Casa Juanico

Where jamón con chorreras was born

Few venues have the honor of saying that they invented a tapa which went beyond its origins and extended throughout the city. That’s what happened to the Jamón con chorreras (a tapa consisting on breading and frying a boiled egg with cheese and cooked ham), which was created here more than fifty years ago, a brilliant simplicity that has become, today, a classic among the Saragossan tapas, vastly imitated. Casa Juanico’s counter offers a wide variety of tapas, some of them awarded in different contests, like the cod ones, another one of their specialties, and the uncommon urchin tapa. Sitting on a table, they offer a daily menu, complemented by a wide offer of rice dishes -Wild asparagus and prawns with foie risotto-, more cod in different makings, served on a dish this time, and several meat proposals, from the steak tartare to the steak to share.
